Investment Team
Jim Harrison founded KJ Harrison & Partners Inc. in 2001. He is the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Investment Officer and a Director. Jim manages the KJH Sweet Sixteen Fund and KJH Financial Franchises Fund, and co-manages the KJH Strategic Investors Fund and the KJH Energy Partners Fund. Prior to founding KJH, Jim was the Chief Executive Officer at Connor Clark Ltd., a publically traded financial services company. Jim led the sale of the firm in 1999 to Royal Bank of Canada.
He has been Chairman of Zargon Energy Trust since 2007 and a direct investor in the company since 1995. Jim is a Director of Sifton Properties, a diversified real estate company in London, Ontario. Jim is a former member of the Board of Dundee REIT and the Development Steering Committee of the Art Gallery of Ontario
Jim was a gold medalist graduate in the LL.B., M.B.A. program at the University of Western Ontario.
Portfolio Manager
Peter Barlas is a Portfolio Manager and a Director. Peter manages the KJH Capital Preservation Fund, the KJH Small Companies Fund and the KJH Fixed Income Fund. Peter has over 8 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2003, Peter worked at KPMG as a senior accountant and in finance at Corby Distilleries. Peter received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey Business School and has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as well as his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
Porfolio Manager*
Scott Margach is a Portfolio Manager and a member of the Investment Team of KJH. Scott co-manages the KJH Strategic Investors Fund. Scott has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2011, Scott managed the Canadian First Class Fund at Trimark. Past experience also includes ten years as a Portfolio Manager and Director at Harbour Capital and TD Asset Management, and five years as a Associate Portfolio Manager and Analyst at Connor Clark Ltd.
Scott received a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Carleton University.

Philip Olsson is the Chair of the Board of Directors, a Portfolio Manager and a member of the Investment Team. Philip co-manages the KJH Energy Partners Fund. Philip has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, not only as an investor but also as an investment banker (including his role as Vice Chairman of RBC Dominion Securities), commercial banker and private equity principal. Over the years he has spent in finance, Philip developed strong convictions about how value is created and destroyed in the capital markets. At KJH, Philip has the opportunity to apply those convictions on behalf of clients.
Philip is Chair of Connaught Energy Ltd., a private Calgary‐based exploration company with operations in Canada and in Europe. He is active in civic and government affairs and is also the Chair of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
Private Client Team
Joel Clark is the Managing Partner of the Private Client Team, a Portfolio Manager and a Director. Joel has over 12 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2002, he worked at Canadian Mortgage Capital Corporation from 1998 to 2000, with a focus on financing commercial real estate. Joel is a former member of the Dundee Bancorp Mortgage Investment Corp. credit committee.
Joel received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University and has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Partner & Portfolio Manager
Sarah Bull is a Partner and member of the Private Client Team. Sarah has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2007, Sarah was at Connor Clark Private Trust from 1994 to 2000 where she successfully managed the investments for a number of private families. After Connor Clark was sold to the Royal Bank, Sarah left the investment industry to gain some management experience. She worked at St Joseph Media until 2006 and was responsible for launching, developing and managing two successful businesses. After her time at St Joseph Media, Sarah rejoined Jim Harrison (former CEO of Connor Clark Private Trust) at KJH to help service clients and develop the firm. She has been awarded the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). Sarah is frequently asked to speak to high net worth individuals, family businesses and groups of executive women on issues surrounding strategic wealth.
Sarah is personally active in her community and in philanthropy. She is a member of The Family Firm Institute (FFI), The Estate Planning Council of Toronto and Verity Women’s Club. She is currently on the National Committee of the Canadian Women’s Foundation and a member of the Sterling Hall Board of Governors, and is a past member of the Havergal College Foundation.
Partner
Mike Jaczko is a Partner and a member of the Private Client Team. As a Partner, Mike acts as a trusted advisor to pharmacy owners on matters associated with preparing, pricing and negotiating the sale of pharmacy businesses. In addition, Mike advises on broader issues of wealth management.
Prior to joining KJH in 2008, Mike enjoyed a career as a senior pharmacy retail executive with Big V Pharmacies, Shoppers Drug Mart and Katz Group Canada. More recently, Mike was the President of IntroPharm & Associates Ltd., a private consulting firm specializing in the strategic transfer of family business wealth as well as mergers and acquisitions. Mike is a regular contributor to several pharmaceutical industry publications and has published peer-reviewed continuing education papers through the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP). Mike has been a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto, is a past board member of the Ontario Pharmacist’s Association (OPA), a past member of the OPA finance committee and is presently the chair of the Audit Review Committee of the Canadian Pharmacists’ Association. He is also a member of the Investment Committee of the London Community Foundation.
Partner
Philip Lieberman is a Partner and member of the Private Client Team. Prior to joining KJH in 2008, Philip was Managing Director, Head of Industrial Products, at Scotia Capital (the global corporate & investment bank of The Bank of Nova Scotia) for the past 12 years. Prior to that, he practiced corporate & securities law at Ogilvy Renault (formerly Meighen Demers) in Toronto.
Philip holds a joint Masters of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University, Chicago) and the Schulich School of Business (York University, Toronto), as well as a LL.B. degree from McGill University, Montreal.
Philip is actively involved in the community as Chairman of the Leadership Cabinet of Sick Kids Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of the National Ballet of Canada and Co-Chair, Bay St. Cabinet of UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.
Financial Planner
Piero Mazza is a Financial Planner and member of the Private Client Team. Piero has over 15 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2011, Piero was at RBC Dominion Securities from 1997 to 2011 with a focus on providing comprehensive wealth management strategies for high net worth individuals. Piero also spent several years at Sun Life Financial as a Senior Estate and Financial Planning Specialist.
Piero received a Business Degree from York University. He has also successfully completed the Certified Financial Planning, Chartered Financial Analyst, Canadian Investment Manager and Retirement Plans Associate designations.
Senior Private Client Associate
Maria G. Amaral-Ryves is a Senior Private Client Associate and a member of the Private Client Team. Maria has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2002, Maria worked at Connor Clark Ltd. where she was an Executive Assistant servicing Jim Harrison’s clients.
Maria is actively involved in her Church community and is a member of their L.I.F.E. (Learning, Inspiring, Friendship, Encouraging) Group. Maria has an infinity for the welfare and rights of children and the elderly. Maria has had the privilege of sponsoring children with World Vision and the Catholic Children's Aid Society for the last 20 years.
Private Client Associate
Dana Campeis is a Private Client Associate and a member of the Private Client Team. Dana has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2010, Dana worked at Northern Rivers Capital Management supporting Hedge Fund Managers. Past experience also includes supervising an operations team at CIBC Trust, supporting Private Client Portfolio Managers at Phillips Hager & North Investment Management and working with a team of retail brokers at Scotia McLeod.
Dana received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. She has also completed several investment industry related courses.
Private Client Associate
Tina Bazarca is a Private Client Associate and a member of the KJH Private Client Team. Tina has three years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2011, Tina worked at CDSPI, a non-profit organization that provides insurance and investment programs and other services to the Canadian dental profession. While at CDSPI, Tina spent two years as an Investment Sales Associate and a year as an Investment Planning Advisor.
Tina received a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University. She has earned her Certified Financial Planner designation and has completed several other investment industry related courses.
Operations Team
Christine Fulsang is the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Director at KJH. Christine has over 20 years of public accounting experience providing a broad range of audit, finance and business advisory services to private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining KJH in 2008, Christine was an Associate Partner in KPMG’s Enterprise practice. Christine received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours Chartered Accountancy Studies – Co-operative Program) and a Master of Accounting from the University of Waterloo. She also earned her Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1990. Christine volunteers with the Alzheimer Society. She is a past Director and past Treasurer of the Toronto Chapter. At the Provincial level, she is the past Chair of the Audit Committee and a past member of the Finance Committee.
Chief Compliance Officer
Sindy Jagger is the Chief Compliance Officer and a member of the Operations Team. Sindy has over 20 years experience in the investment and financial services industry. Prior to joining KJH in 2003, Sindy worked for Royal Bank of Canada providing financial accounting expertise to the bank’s venture capital and merchant banking subsidiaries.
Sindy earned her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1992.
Controller
Victoria Hong is the Controller and a member of the Operations Team. Victoria has over 15 years experience as an accounting professional. Prior to joining KJH in 2010, Victoria was at Vale Inco Limited as a senior financial analyst.
Victoria received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Ottawa. She also earned her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2001.
Administrative Assistant
Adelia Amaral is the receptionist, administrative assistant and a member of the Operations Team. Adelia is responsible for reception, administrative support, client communications and event planning. Adelia Amaral has over 15 years in fashion design, marketing and event planning. Prior to joining KJH in 2010, Adelia was at Randy Klein & Associates as an administrative assistant.
Adelia received a TESOL certificate and is working toward a teaching degree at Ryerson University. She volunteers her time tutoring and her costume design skills to a children’s dance studio.
